DIT – Dublin Institute of Technology

The Centre for Social and Educational Research (CSER) is a dynamic and innovative research centre which seeks to improve the quality of life of children, family and society. The CSER aims to impact on social and educational policies and practices through the provision of accurate research data. Since its establishment in 1997, the CSER has undertaken research on behalf of organizations from the private sector, the state and the community and voluntary sectors. Interdisciplinary research is one of the core strengths of CSER and the Centre is closely associated with the Department of Social Studies and Legal Studies in DIT which uniquely comprises the disciplines of law and social sciences and works actively to develop research in both domains. Staff includes empirical researchers, theorists and active agents within the policy matrix, as well as lecturers and research supervisors. The director of the Centre, Professor Nóirín Hayes, is member of the Children’s Rights Alliance (IE) and founder and member of the Irish play rights groups Sugradh.
